Where to get them
A company listed on the Egyptian Exchange is bound by the listing rules issued by the Financial Regulatory Authority, which contain whole sections on reviewing and publishing financial statements. So the statements reach the Exchange and are published as official disclosures on its website.
- The Egyptian Exchange websiteThe official source of listed companies' disclosures, including their financial statements.
- The company's own websiteMany companies have an investor relations page holding their statements and presentations.
- The FoudaLens disclosure archiveGathers the disclosure attachments the Exchange published for each company in one place, as PDFs.
A simple rule: take figures from the statements themselves, not from a screenshot shared on social media or a number quoted without a source. A quoted number may be from the wrong period, or from standalone statements instead of consolidated ones.
The kinds you will meet
Five things on the first page
If both standalone and consolidated statements are published, compare the same kind across years. And read the auditor's report: a qualification or an emphasis note matters, as covered in red flags in financial statements.
Find a company's statements
Open the disclosure archive, pick any company and find its latest annual statements. Read the first page with the five checks above.
Check yourself
1. A company has large subsidiaries. Which statements usually show the full picture?
2. A figure reads 250,000 and the statements are "in EGP thousands". How much is it in millions?
Summary
- Take figures from the official statements published as disclosures, not from a quoted number.
- Know whether the statements are standalone or consolidated, quarterly or annual.
- Check the period, the unit and the auditor's report before any figure.
