The First Egyptian Agricultural Bank Capital Growth and Periodic Distribution Fund (Al Massy) is an open-ended balanced investment fund that combines investments in companies listed on the Egyptian Exchange with fixed-income instruments, aiming to achieve a balance between capital growth opportunities and risk management.
The Al Massy Fund seeks to grow the value of its investments in line with its investment policy while maintaining a balanced level of risk through portfolio diversification. The fund may also distribute semi-annual dividends to unitholders based on the investment assessment prepared by the Investment Manager.
The investment policy of the Al Massy Fund is based on a strategic asset allocation framework that provides the Investment Manager with flexibility to adjust the portfolio according to market conditions. Under the Prospectus, up to 60% of the fund's assets may be allocated to fixed-income instruments, while 40% may be invested in equities and Global Depositary Receipts (GDRs). The equity allocation may be increased to as much as 70%, depending on interest rate trends and expected returns in the equity market. The Prospectus also permits increasing the allocation to fixed-income instruments beyond the indicative limit during periods when attractive equity investment opportunities are limited, while restructuring the equity portfolio, or under exceptional market conditions.
The fund may also invest in financial instruments listed on foreign markets or denominated in foreign currencies, subject to no objection from the Central Bank of Egypt. In addition, the fund is required to maintain liquidity equivalent to at least 5% of its net assets to meet redemption requests, and this portion may be invested in low-risk instruments that can be readily converted into cash. The fund is not permitted to grant loans or provide direct or indirect financing, nor may it use its assets in any transaction that would expose it to liabilities exceeding the value of its investments.
