Misr Bank Fourth Investment Fund - EL Hessn is an open-ended investment fund that invests in Sharia-compliant equities. Established in 2006 and managed by CI Asset Management (CIAM), the fund aims to grow investors’ capital and maximize returns over the medium and long term through investing in a diversified range of financial instruments that comply with Islamic Sharia principles, while seeking to balance growth opportunities and risk management through diversification across sectors and investments.
EL Hessn Fund invests the majority of its assets in Sharia-compliant equities, with equity allocations ranging between 30% and 95% of the fund’s total assets. These investments include shares of companies listed on the Egyptian Exchange as well as Arab and international markets that are approved by the Sharia Supervisory Committee. The remaining portion of the portfolio may be invested in Sharia-compliant fixed-income and cash instruments, up to a maximum of 50% of total assets, including Islamic deposits, Islamic savings certificates, and Sharia-compliant liquidity management instruments.
The fund follows a number of investment restrictions designed to diversify assets and reduce concentration risk. Investments in securities issued by a single company may not exceed 15% of the fund’s net assets. In addition, no more than 20% of assets may be invested in a single Islamic investment fund or in a related financial group.
The fund’s investments in foreign securities and international markets are also limited to a maximum of 50% of total assets.
The fund invests exclusively in assets that comply with Islamic Sharia principles. Accordingly, it does not invest in companies involved in alcohol, tobacco, gambling, conventional banking, or interest-based debt instruments, and excludes any businesses or activities that conflict with Islamic principles.
Is EL Hessn Fund suitable for long-term investment?
The fund is designed to achieve capital growth over the medium and long term and is therefore more suitable for investors who can tolerate stock market volatility in pursuit of potentially higher long-term returns.
Note: In December 2025, Banque Misr carried out a 1-for-20 unit split for the fund, which increased the number of outstanding units and proportionally reduced the nominal value per unit without affecting the overall value of investors’ holdings.
