EFG Hermes Islamic Equity Fund is an open-ended investment fund that aims to grow capital over the medium and long term through investing in Egyptian equities that comply with Islamic Sharia principles and are included in the EGX33 Shariah Index.
The fund provides investors with access to a diversified portfolio of equities that have passed the approved Sharia screening criteria, offering exposure to the Egyptian stock market while adhering to Islamic investment principles, without the need to individually select Sharia-compliant stocks or manage a portfolio independently.
The Hermes Sharia Equity Fund allocates no less than 95% of its assets to equities included in the EGX33 Shariah Index without being required to follow the index’s relative weightings, provided that the allocation to such equities does not fall below 70% of the total assets of the issuance at any time.
The fund may also invest up to 20% of its assets in investment funds that comply with Islamic Sharia principles or follow the EGX33 Shariah Index methodology. In addition, the fund maintains a minimum cash liquidity ratio of 5% of total assets to meet redemption requests, while total investments in short-term instruments may not exceed 30% of the issuance size.
The fund may further allocate up to 25% of its assets to other Sharia-compliant investment instruments, subject to obtaining the approval of the Financial Regulatory Authority and the unitholders’ assembly.
